We are proud to announce that we have reached a count of half a century in templates at our free templates portal. During the last couple of months we have been very busy developing some challenging web based applications, but we have not forgotten the free services we offer and have been quietly adding to our collections.

Now the templates portal houses 50 elegant design templates free for you to use. We are also working on our open source commitments in SilverStripe open source CMS and jQuery javascript library. Check back with us for updates on the newest open source contributions by us.

NCEA Economics site launched

Posted by Nivanka on 21 March 2009 | 0 Comments

Today 21st of March 2009 we managed to go live with a new website, which is called NCEA Economics. The website is sponsored by whynotonline.com. We met the owner of the website Marcus Gibbs a High School Student from New Zealand,  at the SilverStripe Forums, and we discussed with him about his ambitions / aims and after that we decided to sponsor Marcus with developing and designing his website for free.

His view is that to fill out the need of a proper website which can support any NCEA Economics  student. This is how he described his idea in an email which I got from him,

"Economics is a difficult subject, like a new language it is at times confusing, frustrating and annoying."
That's where my website comes in, 'NCEA Economics' is designed specifically with the newcomer to Economics in mind. NCEA Level 1 Economics, NCEA Level 2 and NCEA Level 3 Economic newcomers will find this site resourceful, as 'NCEA Economics' is a website containing, everything needed to pass exams.

We the team at whynotonline.com wish you all the best with your new website.

Last Sunday (10/01/2009) Nivanka added the 40th template to the template portal.

It is called Bamboo. The template is named Bamboo as it has two bamboo turnks on its header, which makes it natural. The template can be used to any green project website.

We the team at whynotonline.com are really happy to announce about this template as we have done all these in some little time, and also we have seen that people are using our designs.

We are hoping to create more and more templates. Enjoy them.

New theme for the template website

Posted by Nivanka on 3 January 2009 | 3 Comments

Our template portal http://templates.whynotonline.com is redesigned and live from yesterday night. The team here have been working late yesterday, uploading templates, coding, designing and all. So many thanks go to the team.

What we always believe is that a good website must have a good user interface, where the users wont get lost inside the website, so our new template portal is designed again to achieve this ease.

Enjoy the freedom, you dont have to pay, no-restrictions, nothing we would be great if you can give us a link saying that you got the template from us (still this is optional).

New web plans

Posted by Nivanka on 27 December 2008 | 0 Comments

Tags: , , ,

We are proud to mention that we have been in business for 8 months. During these 8 months we have achieved a lot, considering the higly competitive nature of the web development field. We have completed more than 10 web based projects successfully, while maintaining a free design templates portal, contributing to silverstripe through templates, widgets, etc. With the real world experience we have gained, we are introducing three web plans for your convenience.

They are-

Basic Plan

Plus Plan

Miscellaneous Plan

We believe that with these plans it will be much easier for you to work with us as you would have a better idea of what your needs are as well as a clear idea of what we can provide you with. We have analysed the clientele we have met and gotten to know during these last few months and have realised that they fall into three basic categories, small business owners, medium business owners, and large business owners. Therefore we have planned out these new web plans to serve all of these clients.

As always we would love to hear from you, have a look at what we offer, talk to us if you have any project.

We would love to handle any project you need from a simple website to very demanding web based solutions.

Getting ready for the new year

This is to let you know about our website's new look and feel.

We have been thinking of a way in which we can be more and more attractive, as the result we all agreed that our website needs to be changed.

Earlier the portfolio is messed up, the images were not the same size, in this new theme we created a new module to manage the portfolio. And on the home page we show some of our work, as a fading slideshow, which gives the user some sense of our ablities.

And the blog, we are working towards it and it will come soon (probably within a day) we managed to complete the work before we expected, thanks for the team for making it really neat and tidy. Our designers are working really hard to get this done soon, and many thanks goes to all of them for putting extra hours on this new venture.

Thank you team!

Also we would like to hear what you think about our website, just email your ideas to Nivanka (nivanka@whynotonline.com)

You have got more templates

Today we added the 10th template to our templates site, named Chocolate. We are so proud that within our first two months we made 10 website templates, and released them all under the free BSD for the public.

Our plan is to make this template website a large portal with many many web site templates, for that of course we have to buy some new servers, domain names and all. Running a free website is not that easy, so if you are interested to contribute our help website with templates, computers, money, anything you prefer contact Nivanka about it.

Our resident designer Nivanka is working really hard with designing them as well as working on many PHP, Wordpress Projects that we have got. Good work Nivanka Keep it up......

The Famous Lorem Ipsum

Posted by Nivanka on 15 August 2008 | 0 Comments

Lorem Ipsum I dont think that there are web designers who are not aware about that text. Almost every web designer use that text to make up their templates. I used that too but I didnt know the meaning of it until yesterday though, what I only new is that it is Latin. Yesterday while I was having a chat with my colleagues I asked about this and we searched on the internet. Until then I just thought that they are some words just nothing more than that.

If you are not still aware here is the lorem ipsum

I read that this text has been used as a dummy text from 1500s, and one unknown printer has used it first and thereafter all sort of publishers, designers make use of it to add some text contents to there designs.

I found the meaning of the text too...

1914 translation by H. Rackham

"But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure?"

I got all these information from http://www.lipsum.com/. Better go there and have a read too...
